Adult Driver’s Ed
18+ yrs old

As of March 1, 2010, anyone age 18 through 24 who does not have a valid driver license from another state or country must complete an approved driver education course and a driving skills test to become a licensed driver in Texas.

How to get a Learner’s Permit

Adult drivers (18+ and older but under the age of 25)

• You must complete a mandatory approved Adult Driver’s Education course Texas to obtain a learner’s permit. Our adult course includes the DPS written test, so you will not have to take the written test at the DPS office. Once you have completed the 6-hour course, you will be issued an ADE-1317 (completion of an approved Adult Driver’s Education course) certificate. You can then take the ADE-1317 certificate along with the appropriate paperwork to the DPS office to get your learner’s permit.

Adults 25 years and older

• It is not required to take the Adult Driver’s Education course but we do recommend it. You have the option of taking the Adult Driver’s Education course, if you so choose. Since our course has the DPS written test included, you wouldn’t need to go to the DPS to take the written test if you choose to take the Adult Driver’s Education course with us.

Behind the Wheel Instruction Information

• The student must have a valid driver’s permit.
• Appointments: The school reserves the right to either reschedule an appointment or to make available to the student an alternate instructor or automobile in the event of inclement weather, mechanical breakdown, illness or termination of instructor or any other factors beyond our control.
